SHAKESPEARE’S ORIGINAL CLASSROOM REVEALED
Following a £1.8 million restoration, Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall in Stratford-upon-Avon opened its doors to the public on 23rd April, 2016. Located in the heart of the town and within a five-minute walk from Shakespeare’s place of birth, this is the building where William Shakespeare is believed to 7.1. C|c() Michael Wood, a historian and broadcaster, described it as “one of the most atmospheric, magical and important buildings in the whole of Britain.”
There are no surviving records of the school’s pupils in the 16th century, but it is almost certain that this was the school Shakespeare attended until the age of 14 or 15.
