JANE’S CAMPAIGN
One day Jane Fowler was driving home when a passenger in the car ahead of her threw a paper cup out of the window. Jane sounded the horn to give him a signal, but in response, he threw out something else – this time a plastic bag. At that point she decided to take action. 7.1. B|b() City officials agreed to print special posters and leaflets encouraging people to change their habits.
Jane also started chatting about the problem with the people living next door. Soon, she noticed local families picking up litter. 7.2. E|e() She chose a different street every weekend and she didn’t stop there. She talked to people in the street, in parks and in shopping centres. Over a few weeks she spoke to about one thousand people. She also contacted some local schools.
7.3. A|a() Encouraged by their reaction, she continues to explore every opportunity to get the message out. ‘The more we talk about it, the faster we can make a change,’ is her motto.
