In fact, in a recent survey, 80% of adults say they like walking in their spare time and 73% claim that it’s their favouriteform of exercise. 94% believe that local authorities should encourage walking and makepeople of all ages participate.
4.2. D|d()Walking is a natural exercise that helps you stay healthy, control your weight and lower yourblood pressure. And almost anyone can do it! You don’t need special clothing or equipment, and it’s easy to fit it into your daily routine.

B|b()An organisation which might help you when you decide to take up walking is Ramblers.There are over 500 local Ramblers groups in Britain, so most likely there will be one close towhere you live. They offer individual advice and leaflets describing walks in different parts ofBritain. If you prefer not to walk alone at first, join one of the groups in your neighbourhood.
